Vineyard Church Northwest
We Are...
mercy-driven
"Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful." —Jesus, Luke 6:36 NIV
we have been blessed by the astounding mercy of God. we have not earned it, nor do we deserve it.
He gives us mercy based on his good pleasure. we strive to pass that mercy on to each other — to those in our church, to our community, and to the world. we are developing a mercy ministry to show God's love to those who are hurting — financially, physically, emotionally.
we do not consider ourselves better than others. we are clumsy, wounded, faltering people who are learning to live in freedom — freedom afforded us by the gift of God through the sacrifice of His son, Jesus. our worship reflects the mercy He has given us. we sing songs of thanks, adulation, joy, and devotion to Him.
outwardly-focused
"Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere."—Jesus, Mark 16:15 NLT
God has called us to share His love with the world and our community. to give as He has given us. to love even as He has loved us. to be merciful even as He has shown us mercy.
we design our church services ("celebrations") to nourish Christians (mature believers and newer Christians alike) as well as to be a safe place for "seekers" to investigate Christianity and the claims of Jesus Christ.
we regularly get together to show God's love to those in our community through acts of kindness: Coke giveaways, grocery giveaways, mowing grass, giving small gifts, free car washes, etc. we strive to do this as individuals as well.
we aspire to be authentic with each other and with the community. we are not an exclusive community or a social club. we want to be a place that welcomes all comers — as you are — to join us in discovering what Jesus meant when He said "I've come to give you life to the full." (John 10:10)
supernaturally-empowered
"I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised."—Jesus, Luke 24:49 NIV
"For when we brought you the Good News, it was not only with words but also with power, for the Holy Spirit gave you full assurance that what we said was true.” —the apostle Paul, I Thessalonians 1:5 NIV
God has equipped us with spiritual gifts to build up the Church, to bless others, and to grow us up as His followers. exercising these gifts is a normal part of our lives as Christians.
they are tools that Jesus himself has given us to be effective at knowing Him and serving others.
these gifts do not require us to put on super-spiritual pretense, language or abnormal actions. our model is Jesus himself, who simply did "what I see the Father doing."
